For our transplant nephrology coverage, we would need a nephrologist who either has trained in transplant nephrology or has experience taking care of kidney transplant patients. Duties would involve taking call for 7 days - Monday 8 am - Monday 8 am. During in-patient call, they will consult on post-kidney transplant patients, write dialysis orders, manage kidney specific needs and also consult on liver patients that need nephrology input. Clinic coverage is necessary if the candidate is a transplant nephrologist – otherwise, we will simply use them for taking the M-M call. They will all receive phone calls from other physicians, ER's, outside hospitals to provide advice on immunosuppression management. For Reference: Hospital M-F 0800-1200 (4 hours) Break/Lunch 1200-1300 (1 hour) Clinic M-F 1300-1700 (5 hours) 24/7 call coverage Monday-Sunday offsite phone calls and inpatient consults Adult Transplant Hepatology (ABIM): Candidates must first achieve gastroenterology certification before applying for the transplant hepatology exam."
