Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Freight Forwarding Coordinator to join our growing operations team in New Jersey. This role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of international and domestic freight shipments across ocean, air, warehousing, customs clearance, and local transportation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, communicates effectively under pressure, and takes full ownership of shipments from booking through final delivery. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage import and export shipments from booking through final delivery Communicate with steamship lines, airlines, trucking companies, warehouses, customs brokers, and receiving locations Monitor shipment milestones and ensure timely movement of freight Schedule pickups, deliveries, transloading, and warehouse handling as needed Maintain accurate shipment documentation and operational records Provide proactive internal updates and communicate shipment status across teams Identify and resolve operational issues before escalation Work closely with account managers and other departments to meet client expectations Assist with billing preparation, vendor invoice verification, and shipment closing procedures Maintain strong follow-up and organization across multiple active files simultaneously Ensure all shipments are handled in accordance with company SOPs and customer requirements Qualifications 1–3+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or supply chain preferred Experience with ocean import/export, air freight, drayage, warehousing, or customs operations is a plus Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and follow-up abilities Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and operational software systems Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment What We're Looking For We want candidates who Take ownership of their work Communicate clearly and professionally Stay organized under pressure Follow through consistently Work proactively rather than reactively Are looking to grow a long-term career in logistics and freight forwarding Growth & Advancement MH Logistics is committed to developing long-term talent.
