About IPSD Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future. Role Definition We are seeking a Logistics Engineer. This person will implement and continuously improve all logistics processes to maximize efficiency and productivity. What You Will Do: Apply process improvement tools and assisting with the implementation of efficient and competitive logistics solutions. Coordinate with operations functions to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and improvements. Maintain the internal logistics process engineering standards, knowledge, and tools; Assuring their implementation in current and new operations. Evaluate logistics processes and workflows, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for process-related concerns. What You Will Have: Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes. Level Basic Understanding Locates and interprets walk-throughs of the consumption stream and associated provision stream. Identifies goals and objectives of effective supply chain management. Describes major areas associated with supply chain management. Cites multiple examples of waste, high costs and inefficiencies associated with supply chains. Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Level Basic Understanding Names specific tools or techniques that can be used to support the analytical thinking process. Describes specific software applications or products used for business analytics. Gives examples of how analytical thinking has been used to resolve problems. Helps others research and learn more about business analytics tools and applications. Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Level Working Knowledge Describes alternative data-gathering techniques and tools. Documents basic data-gathering methodologies. Identifies the purposes of data gathering and analysis. Identifies key objectives in gathering and analyzing data. Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
