Position Summary Responsible for the end-to-end coordination of shipping and receiving, shop floor inventory management, material handling team, and the strategic staging of materials to support uninterrupted production. The Logistics Manager will serve as a key driver in developing departmental capabilities to scale with business growth and advancing logistics operations by evaluating current-state operations against best-in-class benchmarks. Role Responsibilities Team Members Build a high-performing logistics organization capable of scaling with our growth trajectory. Define department structure, roles, and career development pathways to attract and retain top talent. Develop training programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that create consistent, repeatable performance across all logistics functions. Establish succession planning and cross-training initiatives to ensure operational continuity. Shipping & Receiving Oversee all inbound and outbound freight operations, ensuring accurate and timely receipt and documentation of materials and finished goods. Manage carrier relationships, freight contracts and cost, and compliance with shipping regulations. Implement and maintain robust receiving processes to minimize discrepancies. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, damage rates, and freight costs. Shop Floor Inventory Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records across all shop floor locations, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods staging areas. Design and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage, overstock, and material shortages. Partner with production planning and scheduling teams to align inventory availability with production demand. Lead cycle count programs and periodic physical inventories; develop corrective action plans to address discrepancies. Material Handling Operations Directly supervise and develop material handler teams, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management. Establish standardized work procedures for safe and efficient material movement throughout the facility. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards for all material handling equipment and personnel. Evaluate and optimize the utilization of forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, and other material handling equipment. Production Material Staging Develop and implement kitting and staging strategies to replenish the right materials to the right place at the right time in support of shop floor production schedules. Collaborate closely with production supervisors and scheduling to anticipate material needs and prevent line stoppages. Design staging areas and supermarkets aligned with lean manufacturing principles, including 5S standards. Continuously refine staging workflows to reduce travel time, handling steps, and non-value-added activity.
