Job Description
The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company is looking for an Inspector to join our Engineering Team! In this position you will perform inspections to include low to medium complexity risk exposures, but not limited to, commercial, industrial, and non-manufacturing locations for the purposes of jurisdictional certification, loss prevention, risk assessment, OnSights and claims investigations. May be utilized for fee service engineering inspections. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent 2 years' experience with boilers, UPV, industrial, mechanical and electrical equipment is required Engineering degree (BSME, BSEE or BSChE) may be substituted for practical experience National Board Commission required Successful completion of Company required training Knowledge and Skills: Planning and organizational skills Self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision and adaptability Interpersonal skills Customer service skills Communicates effectively (both verbally and written) Problem solving skills Computer technology skills including the Microsoft Office Suite Physical Requirements: This position requires a person to routinely move about at a site facility. As such, candidates for this position must be able to perform the below physical requirements: Ability to crawl through 11" X 15" openings into confined spaces. Enter and function in very tight confined spaces. Ability to climb vertical ladders and several stories of stairs. Ability to climb and function at heights of at least 30 feet, and up to eight (8) to ten (10) stories. Ability to perform bending, stretching and twisting motions.
