Job Description
Parking Lot Checker Job Purpose To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of parking facilities by monitoring vehicle flow, enforcing parking regulations, and providing assistance to customers. This role involves regular patrols of the parking lot, checking for violations, and maintaining accurate records of parking activity. The Parking Lot Checker plays a vital role in maximizing parking capacity, ensuring safety and security, and providing a positive customer experience. Key Responsibilities Patrol parking areas regularly to monitor parking activity and ensure compliance with established parking regulations. Check for parking violations, such as expired meters, unauthorized parking, or vehicles parked in restricted areas. Issue parking citations or warnings to vehicles in violation of parking rules. Maintain accurate records of parking violations, including vehicle information, violation type, and time of infraction. Assist customers with finding available parking spaces and provide directions within the parking facility. Respond to customer inquiries and complaints regarding parking issues in a professional and courteous manner. Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues observed in the parking lot to the appropriate personnel. Monitor and maintain the functionality of parking equipment, such as gates, meters, and payment systems. Assist with traffic control during peak hours or special events to ensure smooth vehicle flow. Communicate effectively with other parking staff and security personnel to maintain a safe and secure parking environment. Maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the parking lot, including picking up litter and reporting any debris. Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to parking enforcement and customer service. Additionally, on occasions, will need to work late hours schedule for special events. This requires the need to work until the event is over and pick up any litter left on the lot. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions. Experience handling cash and making accurate transactions. Experience using a handheld device or computer for data entry. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and supervisors. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording information. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve customer complaints calmly and professionally. Basic math skills for calculating parking fees and making change. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to understand and enforce parking regulations. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to operate parking equipment, such as gates and ticket dispensers (preferred). Familiarity with parking management software (preferred).
