Job Description
Job Title Mail Courier - BCSO Pay Rate Min to Mid Range $17.55 - $20.18 Time Type Full time Summary Duties and Responsibilities: Receives, sorts and distributes incoming, outgoing, and interoffice mail Delivers and collects mail utilizing delivery pushcart and vehicle Maintains logs of all accountable mail and performs other data entry tasks Delivers and collects mail from U.S. Post Office Responds to customer inquiries in person or by telephone Provides information and advice to customers on available postal services Prepares delivery forms and accounting reports Performs other duties as required Minimum Qualifications: High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate Knowledge of basic office procedures Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations Ability to operate basic office equipment and postal machines; ability to read, understand and follow instructions; ability to drive delivery vehicle; ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to effectively respond to questions and complaints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside organizations and the general public Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test Must have a valid Texas driver's license and maintain a good driving record May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Working conditions are primarily indoors Occasional exposure to jail environment with occasional exposure to hostile people Constant exposure to noise from postal machines and dust Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds Occasionally moves items weighing up to 50-70 pounds Occasionally moves about the office Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery Positions self to perform essential functions Must be able to remain in a stationary position Working With Bexar County Bexar County offers employees a competitive salary, retirement, and benefits.
