Job Description
JOB The Opportunity: The City of El Cajon is seeking an experience professional, with a strong work ethic and leadership capabilities to make a direct impact in the Public Works Operations Department. The ideal candidate will be able to motivate crews, supervise and train utility workers, and have the ability to undertake a full range of construction and maintenance duties. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Wastewater Collections System Certification, NASCO PACP Certification, and Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is highly desirable. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES To view the full position description, please visit our website: Maintenance SupervisorOversees contractors and vendors performing public works maintenance, repair, and construction activities;Inspects work in progress and completed projects;Inspects tools and equipment for proper use, care and safety;Supervises general cleanup and maintenance activities;Evaluates safety practices and conducts employee safety training in accordance with CALOSHA, the City's Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and other applicable rules and regulations;Trains, reviews and evaluates work performance of subordinate personnel;Orders equipment, tools, materials and supplies, maintains inventories and monitors expenditures for same, prepares and submits requisitions for supplies, tools and equipment;Prepares job estimates and establishes priorities;Inspects facilities for damage or potential problems and takes appropriate action;Prepares and submits requisitions for supplies, tools and equipment;Keeps records and prepares daily payroll and work activities;Investigates complaints regarding public facilities and takes corrective action;Coordinates activities with other departments, divisions and agencies;May recommend modification of departmental policies and procedures;Assists in the preparation of departmental/division budget.
