Job Description
JOB Position Summary: The Building Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of general labor, custodial, and maintenance duties to support the operation, appearance, and safety of assigned facilities. This position assists with routine upkeep, light repairs, facility improvement projects, supply transportation, and any other duties assigned by supervisors to ensure facilities remain functional, clean, and well-maintained.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform routine cleaning and custodial tasks in and around facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, trash removal, pressure washing, and general upkeep.Conduct light maintenance work such as painting, touch-up repairs, replacing fixtures, minor carpentry, and basic plumbing or electrical support tasks under supervision.Assist with facility improvement projects, renovations, and preventative maintenance efforts.Pick up, transport, and deliver supplies, tools, materials, and equipment from approved vendors such as Lowe's, Ace Hardware, and other suppliers.Load, unload, and organize materials in storage areas and job sites.Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and report shortages to supervisors.Operate hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.Perform exterior maintenance tasks including grounds cleanup, debris removal, and basic landscaping support.Assist with setup, breakdown, and preparation of facilities for meetings, events, or special functions.Inspect assigned areas for maintenance needs, hazards, and cleanliness concerns, reporting issues promptly.Follow established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures at all times.Maintain a professional appearance and positive working relationship with staff, vendors, and the public.Respond to emergency maintenance situations as directed.Complete work orders and assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.Support senior maintenance staff with projects and repairs as needed.Perform all assigned duties and additional responsibilities as directed by supervisors or department leadership.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of custodial procedures, maintenance practices, and repair techniques.Ability to safely use tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles.Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.Ability to perform physically demanding labor in indoor and outdoor environments.Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing work needs.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Valid driver’s license required.Previous experience in maintenance, custodial work, construction, or general labor preferred.Ability to pass PD background and driving record checks if required.Work Environment: This position involves indoor and outdoor work under varying weather conditions. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating tools, equipment, and vehicles.
