Job Description
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at Motel 6 Owensboro. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of repair, preventive maintenance, and grounds duties to keep our property safe, functional, and welcoming for our guests. Qualifications: ● 2+ years of building maintenance experience (hotel, apartment complex, or similar) ● Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC (PTAC unit experience a plus), and basic carpentry ● Ability to use common hand and power tools safely and effectively ● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail ● Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently ● Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor with guests at all times Fundamental Requirements ● Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees. ● Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locks, TVs, fixtures, etc.). ● Perform routine preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and exterior of the property. ● Repair and maintain PTAC heating and cooling units in guest rooms. ● Handle plumbing repairs including toilets, sinks, showers, faucets, and drains. ● Perform basic electrical work — replace outlets, switches, light fixtures, and ballasts. ● Drywall patching, painting, caulking, and minor carpentry. ● Maintain and troubleshoot commercial laundry equipment (Speed Queen washers and dryers). ● Maintain pool and spa equipment, including chemical balance and routine cleaning. ● Grounds keeping duties: mowing, edging, trimming, weed-whacking, blowing walkways, picking up debris, and keeping the parking lot clean. ● Perform snow and ice removal in winter as needed. ● Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs requiring licensed trades. ● Maintain accurate maintenance logs and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner. ● Be available for occasional after-hours emergencies (on-call rotation shared with team). ● Adhere to all safety, OSHA, and company guidelines. ● Report any safety concerns or damaged equipment immediately to management.
