­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Announcement # 2026-089 Issue Date 05-06-26 Closing Date 05-12-26 Maintenance Technician Corrections Public Safety Hourly Wage: $17.36/Temporary/Part-Time Incumbent performs custodial and facility maintenance duties involving the upkeep of Corrections facility including the secured area of the Adult and Juvenile wings. Work is done by hand or with powered equipment. Incumbent is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled work in involving a high level of manual and manipulative dexterity in completing work assignments in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, building heat/air systems and physical plant property, vehicle, tools, and equipment. Examples Of Work Performed Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Corrections organization chart and established chain of command. Follow all policies, procedures and guidelines as outlined in Standard Operating Procedural Manual; Personnel Policy Manual, Federal guidelines for PL93-638 Contract Law Enforcement Operations. Must follow proper safety procedures and use safety equipment. Complete daily logs and record of duties performed, equipment and supplies used. Conduct inspections for preventive maintenance on a variety of physical plant areas. Make request for technical assistance from other sources when necessary. Inspects and test all exit signs and emergency lighting systems for building evacuation purposes. Maintain the landscape of the facilities by pulling weeds, trimming lawns, watering lawns and emptying trashcans and refuse containers. Weeding, planting, building fence, for the Healing Forest. Sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping floors, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures. Maintain restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Clean mirrors, sinks and water fountains. Replace toilet tissue, hand towels and soap as needed. Notes condition of Correctional Facilities and reports to supervisor broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains and other conditions requiring maintenance. Keeps stock of cleaning materials and equipment on hand to do the work. Replenish stock as necessary. Operate 1 ton and ¾ ton pick-up trucks and vehicles, driving in all types of traffic and weather on public roads. Load and hall sand & gravel, mulch, fertilizer, and disperse. Obtaining firewood from our local resources for Sweat House. Complete a monthly vehicle report. Exert heavy physical effort in tasks such as frequent lifting and moving objects weighing 30 to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Extensive walking, bending, and lifting above the head are required. Required to work outside in all weather conditions and inside work involves exposure to dust, drafts, and fumes. Required to wear a uniform attire. Assist with minor Correctional vehicle maintenance, washing, detailing, and vacuuming. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of planning and purchasing of all maintenance, janitorial supplies, and equipment. Knowledge of technical practices, tools and equipment related to a variety of trades such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and building maintenance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precaution necessary in general building maintenance work. Knowledge of public safety; first aid; fire and evacuation systems; and emergency communication systems. Knowledge of keeping inventories, records, or logs. Skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment used to accomplish work assignments. Skill in working with others; Administration, Correction Officers, inmates, vendors, and Tribal Programs. Ability to work independently and productively with minimal instruction and supervision. Ability to perform sanitation and maintenance of grounds and buildings. Ability to interpret plans, sketches and blueprints associated with work assignments and projects. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information encountered at work. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, Corrections Gator, riding lawn mower, keep vehicles clean and check equipment regularly. Minimum Requirements Must be 21 years of age and older. High School Diploma or GED. Two years experience in mechanical, electronic, or carpentry trades. Required to sign a code of
