Job Summary MAINTENANCE WORKER - 12 Month (240 Day) Contract Qualifications:Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.Must pass a background clearance to meet the suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.2002-457.Experience with air conditioning and refrigeration and/or electricity is preferred.JOB GOAL:To maintain school sites, equipment, and facilities necessary for the safety and comfort of all pupils and employees in the school system.Essential Functions:Duties require physical labor, technical skills, and adherence to safety standards.Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.Demonstrates professional ethics.Demonstrates skill, safety, and knowledge when operating equipment.Uses proper safety equipment as appropriate when performing maintenance duties.Assists in regular, routine inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards, repairs, or service and reports needs or solves issues according to established school system procedures.Follows established guidelines for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.Engages in required orientations, trainings, safety instruction, and meetings as required for effective job performance.Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system.Subject to call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day in cases of emergencies that may threaten the school system's property and/or equipment.Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board of Education policies and procedures.Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or superintendent.Salary Range:According to Cherokee County Schools salary schedule.Salary Schedule:https://www.cherokeek12.org/en-US/human-resources Additional Information:Please contact the Maintenance Supervisor for any additional inquiries.Terms of Employment:Twelve-month (240-day) contract School Directory Link:https://www.cherokeek12.org/en-US/schools This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job goals, qualifications, and responsibilities and the employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.This job description is not a contract, and is not intended to be a contract.The Cherokee County Board of Education reserves the right to amend the job description as needed..
