Maintenance Worker I - Public WorksLocation:Ritzville / Lind / Othello Position Summary Performs entry-level and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work on county roads and related infrastructure and operates trucks and light-to-medium equipment requiring a Washington State Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).Essential Duties Perform routine road and right-of-way maintenance, including pothole patching, shoulder work, grading support, and debris removal.Operate CDL-required vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, sanders, water trucks, lowboys) to haul materials and support maintenance and construction activities.Assist with snow and ice control, including plowing, sanding, and de-icing during winter operations and emergency call-outs.Set up and remove traffic control devices; flag traffic to provide a safe work zone for crews and the public.Perform basic inspection, service, and cleaning of assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment; report needed repairs.Assist higher-level maintenance staff with culvert, drainage, signage, and guardrail work and other assigned tasks.Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED.Valid Washington State Class A CDL with acceptable driving record Ability to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in road, construction, or public works maintenance.Traffic control/flagger certification and basic first aid/CPR (or ability to obtain these within 180 days of employment).Working Conditions Work is performed primarily outdoors in rural road environments, with exposure to traffic, noise, dust, and varying weather; requires frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and operation of heavy trucks and equipment.Applications and job descriptions are available at 210 W.Alder, Ritzville, WA 99169; by calling 509-659-3276 and on the Adams County website at https://www.co.adams.wa.gov Adams County is an equal opportunity employer.Pay:$23.09 - $24.13 per hour Benefits:401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location:In person.
