Under the direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of District facilities and equipment; assist skilled trades personnel in the performance of a variety of duties related to the building trades. Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years increasingly responsible building maintenance experience in a number of the trades. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid California driver's license. Essential Duties Perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of District facilities, systems and equipment; assist skilled trades personnel in the performance of a variety of more technical jobs related to the building trades. E Perform a variety of welding tasks involving acetylene, MIG and gas welding; repair, mend and weld fences and gates; design and weld ramps for portable buildings and other structures; perform a variety of fabrication welding. E Perform routine maintenance and repair on mechanical and electronic equipment such as changing filters, plugs and belts, cleaning and lubricating equipment, testing and replacing tubes and circuits; assist journey-level personnel in emergency repairs and in large complex projects. E Perform a variety of general building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, partitions, roofs and other building parts; repair leaking roofs and perform cold patching as needed; assemble furniture and other wood and metal structures; install chalkboards throughout the District. E Operate a variety of equipment and machines including various types of welding equipment, meters, saws, drill presses, hand and power tools, and a variety of tools and equipment used in the building trades to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition. E Operate a motor vehicle to haul and transport equipment, supplies and materials to and from District and vendor sites. E Assist in performing various plumbing and heating-related duties; assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of various plumbing, heating and air conditioning fixtures. Assist with minor or routine servicing of HVAC equipment, including preventive maintenance, lubricating moving parts and inspecting and replacing belts and filters. Assist with repairing and rebuild various types of locks; change lock combinations; re-key plugs and locks; cut copies of keys and enter in log book; deliver keys to District sites and personnel. Assist in pinning and re-pinning cylinders for entire school sites; perform preventive maintenance on locks and hardware including cleaning, lubricating and tightening parts. Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring, plugs, lights, circuit breakers and fixtures; assist with running conduit and pulling wire; assist with trouble-shooting to repair or replace switches, receptacles, fans and motors; assist with repairs to motors, bells, lighting circuits, and to communication and audio-visual equipment. Construct, rebuild and repair District equipment and facilities, including various wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing; mix and apply paint to match or cover interior and exterior surfaces; remove or paint over graffiti; erect, rig and move scaffolding and platforms.
