Staff Position Description Position Title:Mammography Aide Position Code:Mammo Aide-6154 Department:Imaging Services Safety Sensitive:YES Reports to:Supervisor of Imaging Services Exempt Status:NO Position Purpose:All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI's vision of providing the region's best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.Works under the direction of the director, assistant director, and supervisor to perform a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment to and from the Imaging Services department.Key Responsibilities:Patient and Customer Care:a.Greets patients and provides general support to the staff and operations of the mammography department.b.Operates assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner while delivering high quality service to patients and customers.c.Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested.Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate.d.Accesses and provides lab values to performing technologist.e.Recognizes significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from the medical record, which may impact the examination.f.Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop), patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.g.Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include exam start and complete times.h.Communicates technical information to non-technical personnel.i.Utilizes effective verbal and written communication skills.j.Complies with all Federal, State, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.Patient Satisfaction:a.Regularly applies AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as well as other evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients.Shows empathy care to patients and family members present.b.Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal.c.Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings.Absences must be communicated as soon as practically possible.d.Ensures all licensure, competencies, training, and education are completed in a timely manner.e.Participates in and encourage continuous process improvement.Qualifications Required Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent (must provide diploma or official transcripts if hired) Certifications:BLS ( Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association Preferences Ability to manage and utilize technological resources (computers, phone, tablets, etc.) Special Position Requirements Exposure Category I:Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.Other potential hazards:exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.Possible exposure to blood product and radiation Work Requirements Lifting equipment up to 50lbs, pushing equipment up to 150lbs, and assisting with the movement of an adult patient weighing over 300lbs Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients Ability to focus, follow instructions, and demonstrate visual and auditory acuity during procedures Standing and walking for the duration of the entire scheduled shift Date Staff Position Description Created / Revised:6/28/2019.
