EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Examples of Duties May Include: Conduct basic research and data collection on assigned projects, including gathering benchmark data from other agencies or compiling publicly available information.Assist with the preparation of written reports, presentations, or summaries for departmental use or public distribution, under the guidance of professional staff.Participate in observing and documenting internal workflows and processes for the purpose of learning about departmental functions and recommending efficiencies.Support short-term special projects by contributing to tasks such as tracking deadlines, coordinating meeting materials, or assembling data.Attend staff meetings, workshops, and public events to gain exposure to the functions of local government and interdepartmental operations.Shadow department staff or project teams to understand the roles, responsibilities, and challenges within city operations.Draft communications such as email templates, outreach materials, or internal memos under supervision for learning purposes.Assist with data entry, file organization, or digital recordkeeping as part of a time-limited project with clearly defined learning goals.Help design or review simple surveys or feedback tools to support community engagement or internal process improvement efforts.Prepare a final capstone presentation or report summarizing internship takeaways and recommendations related to assigned projects. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Position is part-time and non-benefitted. Limited to a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year. There is no guarantee of permanent employment following completion of the internship.
