Summary: The Accounting Manager manages multiple accounting functions and operations. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to NCUA and IRS regulations and comply with GAAP standards. Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes for assigned areas. Evaluates accounting processes and systems and implements optimizations. Develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. CPA certification preferred Minimum five years progressive accounting experience required Big Four experience and/or Banking /financial service work experience preferred Working knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory reporting required Minimum two years supervisory experience Experience working with accounting software and databases required Knowledge of Prologue Financials, FISERV DNA Core System, and Blackline preferred Job Responsibilities: Manages the processes and accounting staff responsible for: Reconcile high volume of general ledger account ensuring balances are supported and variances are researched and followed through Ensures accounts are reconciled timely Cash management reporting Filing sales and backup withholding tax returns Reporting charged off loans and related recoveries Large batch settlement reconciliations such as ATM, shared branch, lockbox, debit card and credit card Monitoring the work ticket system to review the nature of issues being worked Reviews and approves daily/weekly wire transfers. Responsible to ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close Provides technical support and assistance to troubleshoot and escalate issues Ensures staff perform their activities in compliance with credit union policies and procedures and that documentation and recordkeeping are accurately and properly maintained Collaborates with other departments and assists in development and implementation of new and revised policy and procedures Reviews work prepared by staff ensuring proper oversight Helps to ensure external and internal audit reports follow policy and procedure Assists direct manager in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department, as well as new product and service offering support to the broader Credit Union. Keeps the direct manager informed on the conditions and operations of the department Performs other duties as needed upon request by immediate supervisor Performs all duties inherent in the role of a manager Benefits of Joining the Teachers Team: We provide a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes, but is not limited to: This position is eligible for our annual discretionary bonus program. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
