City Irvine State California Job Location Irvine Regional Office (Derian) Position Type Regular Job Summary The Manager, Community Marketing leads the strategy, execution, and performance optimization of marketing programs across Essex’s 63,000+ apartment homes in California and Washington. This role shapes community-level positioning, drives portfolio-wide marketing performance, and ensures alignment with brand and business objectives. You will oversee property-level marketing strategies, analyze performance data, and translate insights into actions that improve lead generation, leasing, retention, and overall engagement. This role supports the full asset lifecycle—including acquisitions, redevelopments, new developments, and stabilized communities—guiding gotomarket plans, investment strategies, and leasing support. As the primary link between Marketing and Operations, you’ll ensure consistent execution across regions, manage marketing budgets, and influence performance outcomes through strong cross-functional partnerships. Success requires strategic leadership, analytical rigor, team development, and the ability to drive results at scale. As the representative for Marketing, this role partners closely with cross-functional teams across Operations, Revenue, and Sales to ensure consistent marketing execution across regions, effectively manage budgets, and drive performance outcomes. Success in this role requires strong strategic leadership, presentation skills, analytical rigor, and the ability to influence results through collaboration at scale. Additionally, this role is responsible for leading, developing, and elevating a team of two, ensuring high-quality execution and ongoing growth. What You Will Do Team & Strategy Leadership Lead, coach and train the Community Marketing team, ensuring high-quality execution and ongoing growth. Manage portfolio-wide projects and vendors. Serve as the regional marketing expert and develop strategy, KPIs, and reporting. Align community marketing plans with broader departmental goals and cross functional partners. Portfolio Support Review weekly performance metrics (ATR, leads, occupancy) to identify needs. Diagnose root causes of performance issues and recommend solutions. Support community marketing tactics, including email campaigns and onsite branding. Conduct community tours, competitive shops, and provide actionable insights. Manage stakeholder feedback and adjust plans as needed. Lead marketing support with cross functional teams. Systems & Vendor Management Oversee updates to websites, CRM, email, and multifamily tech platforms. Ensure consistent use of brand standards, signage, and collateral. Maintain centralized reporting and community research. Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, contracts, and performance. Acquisitions & Dispositions Develop and track acquisition marketing budgets. Lead marketing project management and cross-functional updates. Manage temporary and permanent signage design and installation. Support asset positioning, branding, and messaging to meet lease-up goals. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field. 5+ years of relevant experience including 3+ years of supervisory experience; multifamily experience preferred. Strong project management, analytical, communication, presentation and collaboration skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable with relentless follow-through. Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM, email, and property software is a plus. What The Job Requires Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 4 days per week: Monday through Thursday, located at Essex's corporate office in Irvine. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks. Minimal travel may be required for occasional property walks, meetings, training, or conferences.
