Organization: SMCS-Sutter Med Center - Sacramento Position Overview: The CVOR Nurse Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Team. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care for cardiovascular patients by managing staff performance, workflow, and compliance with regulatory standards. Supervises and oversees the planning, organizing, and directing of patient care services, ensuring consistent delivery of high-value quality care to all patient populations served. Establishes patient assignments, staff scheduling, and patient visit volume distributions, and assists in meeting financial targets by effectively managing utilization, productivity, personnel, and supplies. Supports and educates staff in resolving operational issues/problems. Assists in developing and implementing changes in policies, practices, and standardized procedures based upon input from staff and administration to remain congruent with current laws and regulatory standards while promoting optimal patient care. Collaborates with others to coordinate services, streamline and standardize workflows and procedures, and/or drive positive outcomes. The downtown Sacramento medical center is made up of several facilities that include Ose Adams Medical Pavilion, Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center, and Sutter Center for Psychiatry. Ose Adams Medical Pavilion The 281-bed specialty medical center focuses on general acute medical/surgical care as well as a medical base to advanced services for cancer, orthopedics, spine, and neurology, and neurosurgery. Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center The 242-bed specialty medical center focuses on women's and children's specialty services and includes medical intensive care units for cardiac and neurological patients. Job Description The ideal RN has 2+ years of Cardiovascular/Open Heart Operating Room RN Leadership experience. Relocation Assistance available EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN-Bachelors Preferred CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: RN -Registered Nurse of California BLS -Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider ACLS -Advanced Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider PALS -Pediatric Advanced Life Support Healthcare Provider CNOR -Certified Perioperative Nurse. Preferred TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 8 years of recent relevant experience. 3-5 years recent Cardiovascular/Open Heart Surgery RN Service Line Coordinator or Supervisor experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Solid understanding of operations and workflows and how the department’s process/workflow impacts other department operations. Demonstrates understanding of business and operational requirements. Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building, and coaching/mentoring with the ability to motivate and engage others. Demonstrates solid clinical proficiency and knowledge to effectively plan and coordinate patient care consistent with applicable laws, standards and regulations. Working knowledge and thorough understanding of state/federal/local and/or accreditation standards and requirements as it relates to operations and organization, with the ability to interpret and implement applicable standards and requirements. Demonstrates understanding of the healthcare financial environment. Demonstrates ability to develop and manage a budget. Understands age-specific needs in providing care to the patient population served. Demonstrates tactical and analytical thinking and planning skills, and is able to develop plans to accomplish objectives, identify obstacles and resolve operational issues. Knowledge of emerging trends and how it impacts operations. Ability to build and establish effective working partnerships with employees, peers and/or leaders to achieve business objectives. Demonstrates ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues. Verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions with little direction.
