Who You Are In this role as our Import and Export Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Import/Export team, as well as managing all import and export compliance related activities including overseeing import entries and exports, advising our company on best trade practices, managing brokers and other service providers, and training. You will lead the efforts to ensure global compliance with import and export laws and that FANUC America Corporation (FAC) is current with all applicable and related rules and regulations. You must have proven experience effectively leading, developing, and motivating teams, as well as a background and solid understanding of import/export regulations, and be excited about working in-person to be close to all these activities. In today’s marketplace, businesses must excel at international trade, including understanding and navigating increasingly complex and ever-changing tariff practices, supply chain and transportation challenges, and always important export control. You will lead all these efforts for the largest U.S. industrial robotics and automation company that, as part of a global network of FANUC companies, serves manufacturing and industrial companies around the world. How It’s Done Manage compliance for international inbound and outbound freight movements including but not limited to freight tracking, tracing, expedited moves, and port re-direct Maintain a high degree of knowledge regarding Import and Export Administration Regulations, changes, Bureau of Industry and Security requirements, and US Customs Provide leadership direction consistent with corporate vision, objective, and strategy Promote a culture recognizing the importance of transparency, collaboration (including cross-functional partnership), continuous improvement, and a customer-focused (internal and external) mindset Partner with leadership and HR regarding talent management and employee development, succession planning, orientation/onboarding, and employee engagement for the department Lead improvement activities that will streamline compliance processes while maintaining compliance with all government regulations Serve as a Subject Matter Expert when partnering with the Legal department and oversight committee to develop audit criteria and plan an annualized schedule to audit Import and Export Control Compliance for all of FANUC America Provide notification and issue corrective actions to appropriate personnel to correct any issues of non-compliance Ensure accurate records and documentation per government regulatory requirements Manage Brokers including specifications, contract negotiations, management performance compliance to specification, audit invoices and records for accuracy Serve as the primary contact for all issues of concern involving governmental regulatory bodies, FAC’s service providers, or import/export consultants: Consult with Legal on various CBP Programs e.g., Duty Drawback and make recommendations for FAC participation Develop and maintain procedures for ensuring compliance when supporting classifying products in conjunction with import control Consult with network resources to remain current on CBP Regulation changes, CTPAT changes, and changes in HTSUS affecting FAC products Conduct recurring training of shipping personnel to ensure that all international shipments comply with shipping guidelines and regulatory requirements Provide knowledge and expertise support for customer contract review of international terms and shipping arrangements Interface with FANUC on global logistics responsibilities such as drop shipping into foreign countries Conduct annual CTPAT review working with various FAC departments ensuring review is submitted timely and accurately Support review of all transportation invoices – domestic and international – to ensure accuracy of costs and allocation to the applicable FAC project What You Need Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent, relevant experience Eight years or more years of industry experience working primarily with management of imports and exports Working knowledge of US government Import/Export Regulations including BIS Export Administration Regulations, USMCA requirements and Harmonized Tariff Schedules Understanding of transportation standard terms, purchase orders/contracts, legal requirements pertaining to acquisition of export services, and the Uniform Commercial Code Working knowledge of logistics execution (transportation, warehousing, etc.) What Would Be Even Better
