Job Description
Summary The Manager, IT PMO & Business Applications is an IT leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and operational performance of the organization’s enterprise business application portfolio and the Enterprise Project Management Office. This role ensures technology initiatives are aligned with organizational strategy, operational priorities, financial stewardship, and regulatory requirements. The organization operates as an Epic Community Connect site; therefore, this role serves as a critical liaison between operational leadership, Information Technology, and the Epic hosting organization. The manager ensures business needs are appropriately translated into Epic requests, optimizations, integrations, and enhancements while also providing support over non-Epic enterprise systems, including financial, supply chain, human resources, payroll, contracts, analytics, and reporting platforms. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned. Provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s enterprise business application portfolio, including Epic Community Connect, PeopleSoft (General Ledger and Materials Management), HR, payroll, contracts, analytics, reporting, and other non-clinical systems. Ensure enterprise applications support organizational goals related to financial performance, operational efficiency, compliance, and data integrity. Establish and oversee application lifecycle management practices, including system selection, implementation, optimization, integration, and retirement. Lead Epic Community Connect coordination, governance, and project implementations; translate operational needs into build, optimization, and integration requests aligned with hosting organization capabilities. Manage executive and operational stakeholder expectations regarding Epic functionality, timelines, and Community Connect model constraints; partner with clinical, revenue cycle, finance, and operations to align priorities. Lead and mature the Enterprise PMO by establishing standardized project and portfolio management methodologies, governance, and tools. Oversee enterprise project intake, prioritization, sequencing, and resource allocation; provide leadership with visibility into project status, risks, dependencies, and financial impacts, ensuring consistent delivery practices. Provide oversight for enterprise data management, reporting, and analytics; establish standards for dashboards, reporting, and performance metrics and promote data-driven decision-making. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance for enterprise applications; support IT budgeting, forecasting, and financial management in partnership with Finance and Supply Chain. Ensure enterprise applications and IT project practices comply with regulatory, legal, and security requirements; partner with Information Security, Compliance, and Internal Audit to mitigate risk. Lead, mentor, and develop business applications and PMO staff; establish performance expectations and promote collaboration across IT, clinical, and business teams. Oversee training coordination, change management, and communication for enterprise business applications and project initiatives to support organizational readiness and adoption. Education and Experience Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required. Experience: A minimum of 8 years of progressive Healthcare Information Technology experience, with demonstrated responsibility for enterprise business applications, strategic planning, and portfolio or program management. Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with executive and business line leaders. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in complex, regulated environments. Demonstrated proficiency managing multiple, concurrent, enterprise-scale IT initiatives. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project or portfolio management experience required.
