Job Summary The Manager, Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering will be responsible for managing OSP Engineering activities performed by both Ziply employees and engineering vendors, ensuring that work performed meets or exceeds quality standards and projects are completed per design, on-time and within the allocated budget. This position requires strong teamwork within the Construction Department, as well as cross-collaboration with other departments across the organization. Leadership & Team Management · Lead an Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering team and provide leadership and mentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performance management. Engineering Oversight & Compliance · Accountable for the staffing, schedules and compliance associated with OSP engineering and construction activities, along with the safety and quality of work performed. · Oversee production of all engineering work orders within an assigned geographic area. Ensure engineering work orders are designed in compliance with all company standards, NESC, and municipal requirements, as well as public ROW or utility easements. Confirm project cost estimates are accurate. Release work orders to Construction in time to meet commitment dates. · Manage Engineering process and documentation through project completion. Permitting, Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement · Identify permitting authorities based on proposed routes including municipalities, government entities, utility owners and any other agencies who have authority over the right-of-way in which we are proposing to construct. Oversee the completion of necessary permit applications. · Develop, coordinate, and execute project schedules with contractors, property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities, and government agencies. · Coordinate and participate in various internal meetings to ensure communication and alignment of initiatives, information sharing and implementation of best practices. · Coordinate with State, local municipalities, and utilities. Financial & Administrative Management · Verify contractor’s invoices for accuracy and process to AP in a timely manner. Other Duties · Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization. Required Qualifications: · High school diploma or GED. · Minimum of eight (8) years of outside plant (OSP) experience, including quoting, permitting and other pre-construction activities. · Developed leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead others. · Experience using fiber optic network documentation tools. · Advanced understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners. · Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record. · Must complete a pre-employment drug screening. Required Qualifications: · Experience managing capital budgets.
