Job Description
Marine Engineer / Deckhand – 157’ Sailing Yacht Arabella is a renowned 157-foot sailing yacht celebrated for her iconic three masts, classic lines, and powerful sail plan. We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined engineer to join the vessel immediately. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys traditional sailing, life on the water, and solving problems in a dynamic onboard environment. The right candidate does not necessarily need formal licensing, but must be dependable, practical, and comfortable handling the day-to-day engineering and maintenance needs of a working sailing yacht. Responsibilities Perform routine engine room checks and maintenance Conduct oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid inspections Assist with troubleshooting diesel engines and onboard systems Support basic AC/DC electrical diagnostics and repairs Maintain pumps, plumbing, bilge, and auxiliary systems Help monitor generators, batteries, and charging systems Coordinate preventative maintenance and keep organized records Assist deck crew with sailing operations as needed Support overall vessel cleanliness, readiness, and safety Qualifications Basic diesel engine knowledge required Familiarity with marine electrical systems preferred Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability essential Comfortable working in a fast-paced onboard environment Sailing experience is a plus, but not required Team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic Ability to live and work aboard for extended periods Ideal Backgrounds Candidates may come from sailing yachts commercial marine tugboats fishing vessels marine mechanics diesel service tall ships hands-on technical trades About Arabella Arabella offers a unique onboard culture centered around sailing, seamanship, sustainability, and outdoor living. The vessel emphasizes eco-conscious operations, farm-to-table provisioning, and a collaborative crew environment. Immediate availability strongly preferred. Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
