Marketing and Outreach Lead Department: Communications FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Hourly), Full-Time REPORTS TO: Vice President of Advancement & Growth WORK LOCATION & TRAVEL: Flexible hybrid in-office/remote schedule; some local travel within San Diego County required (events, community outreach). JOB SUMMARY Essential to the BBBS brand, the primary function of this position is to increase community awareness, strengthen brand presence, and drive volunteer and youth recruitment through strategic marketing, outreach, and communications efforts. A strong emphasis is placed on engaging prospective mentors through compelling storytelling and direct outreach, including coordinating and conducting Volunteer Information Sessions. A high level of professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail is expected in representing the BBBS mission and ensuring consistent, high-quality communications. PERFORMANCE MEASURES The successful incumbent will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: increased volunteer inquiries and conversion to enrollment; consistent and high-quality brand representation across all platforms; increased engagement across digital channels; successful execution of marketing campaigns and outreach efforts; and effective collaboration across departments to support agency-wide goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to, the following: Execute marketing and communications strategies to increase visibility, engagement, and community awareness. Develop, draft, and manage content across email campaigns, website, newsletters, social media, and print materials. Collaborate with external consultants on website, SEO and digital ads. Collect and elevate stories from Bigs, Littles, families, staff, and donors to bring the mission to life. Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all communications. Manage day-to-day social media content creation, scheduling, and engagement across platforms. Capture photos and short-form video content at events and community activations. Track and report on performance metrics to inform content strategy and decision-making. Coordinate, promote, and conduct Volunteer Information Sessions (virtual and in-person) for prospective mentors. Collaborate with Program and Enrollment teams to align messaging with recruitment needs and priorities. Assist with drafting and deployment of email campaigns for recruitment, fundraising, events, and program updates. Maintain email lists and support audience segmentation to improve engagement and effectiveness. Provide marketing and communications support for agency events, including creation of invitations, signage, digital assets, and follow-up communications. Support on-site communications needs at events, including PR, social media coverage and photography. Support media outreach efforts including drafting press releases, pitches, and talking points. Maintain a communications calendar and assist in updating key messaging documents and organizational materials. Work collaboratively across Development, Programs, and Leadership teams to support organizational priorities. Manage project timelines, approvals, and organization of marketing assets (photos, videos, templates). Attend and assist with agency-sponsored events as directed. Other duties as directed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience). 2–4 years of experience in marketing, communications, outreach, or digital media. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. Strong organization and project management; able to prioritize and meet deadlines. High attention to detail and accuracy. Experience creating content for email, web, newsletters, and social media. Proficient with social media platforms; able to learn email marketing and content management tools. Team-oriented and collaborative; able to work independently. DESIRED COMPETENCIES: Experience creating marketing assets using tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (or similar), including social graphics, flyers, one-pagers, slide decks, and basic photo editing. Comfort capturing and producing photography and short-form video for digital channels (e.g., Instagram Reels/TikTok/YouTube Shorts), including basic editing, captions, and accessibility best practices (e.g., alt text, captions). Experience with social media scheduling/management tools. Familiarity with email marketing platforms and/or CRMs (e
