Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent, affordable, and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs. New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that promotes economic growth across New York City's five boroughs. As NYC’s official economic development corporation, it is charged with leveraging the City’s assets to drive growth, create jobs, and improve quality of life. The Doe Fund has partnered with the NYCEDC to hire approximately 100 full-time workers at the living wage. These workers will be responsible for site cleanup, area maintenance, graffiti and snow removal throughout the five boroughs. The Doe Fund will also provide these workers with additional vocational and job training, with the goal of improving their career trajectory and gaining higher paid employment. RESPONSIBILITIES ( Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to): Inspect machines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.) Keep logs of work and report on issues QUALIFICATIONS: Driver’s License required - Driving record must be approved by NYCEDC. In good physical condition and health, without mental or physical disabilities or impairments which would reasonably be expected to interfere with the performance of the services. Ability to exert moderately heavy (up to 50 pounds) physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling Adherence to attendance policy and capable of working independently Ability to adapt and be flexible, as work environments and duties may change HSE preferred or has to be actively in HSE classes Must be able to send and respond to emails both on a computer and a smartphone Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc. A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines Very good communication skills A problem-solving ability
