Mechanical Design Engineer – Access Equipment Texas, USA Our client is a leading manufacturer of boom lifts, scissor lifts, and specialist access equipment, supporting demanding industrial and construction applications across North America. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of electrical, hydraulics and controls engineering design activities across mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs). This is a key individual contributor position with clear progression into technical leadership as the engineering function expands in the short to medium term. Key Responsibilities Design and develop structural and mechanical systems for boom lifts, scissor lifts, and access platforms Produce 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs Perform FEA, tolerance analysis, and design validation activities Support prototype builds, testing, DFMEA, and product optimisation Collaborate with manufacturing, hydraulics, electrical, and supply chain teams to drive design-for-manufacture solutions Ensure compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and relevant access equipment standards Requirements Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Proven experience designing heavy equipment, mobile machinery, or access platforms Strong proficiency with CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor Knowledge of welded structures, hydraulics, sheet metal, and fabrication processes Experience with FEA and engineering validation methodologies Hands-on engineering mindset with the ability to operate autonomously in a growth environment
