Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe mechanical drafter is responsible for supporting the design and drafting of mechanical and structural systems using SolidWorks 3D CAD software. This role assists in developing detailed drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for fabrication and assembly. Working closely with the Engineering and Design team, this position supports projects from initial concept through final design by producing accurate drawings and documentation while ensuring alignment with customer specifications and company standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Utilize SolidWorks 3D CAD software to create and modify: 3D models Fabrication drawings Spool drawings Structural drawings Assist in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related project documentation. Support the design of mechanical components and systems based on project requirements. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications. Ensure accuracy and consistency in all drawings and design deliverables. Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and operations teams to support project execution. Provide support to manufacturing by assisting with drawing revisions and addressing design-related questions. Follow company standards and applicable industry codes in all work. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1–3 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design (internships or schooling acceptable). Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software (required). Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, and structural components. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs) is a plus. Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time management skills. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, or reach. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for design and computer work. Visual ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, schematics, and computer screens. Required to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, email, and through software systems to exchange information with team members and other departments.
