MRT - MECHANICAL ENGINEER Engineering & Design Department Reports To: VP of Engineering & Design ABOUT MRT MRT is a performance-focused wheel and tire company dedicated to developing innovative products for automotive and powersports enthusiasts. MRT combines engineering, design, and real-world testing to create products that deliver performance, durability, and quality for customers worldwide. POSITION SUMMARY MRT is seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support the full lifecycle development of wheels and tires — from initial concept and design through testing, validation, and production support. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys combining CAD design, product development, manufacturing collaboration, and hands-on testing. The position involves creating engineering drawings and technical documentation while also participating directly in prototype evaluation, mounting, balancing, and product validation activities. The ideal candidate is analytical, creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about developing high-performance products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead full lifecycle development of wheel and tire products, including concept development, design, prototyping, testing, and production implementation Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using modern CAD software (Onshape preferred) Collaborate with internal teams and manufacturing partners to achieve performance, durability, quality, cost, and manufacturability targets Develop product specifications and select appropriate materials and components Support manufacturing processes including mold development, assembly, troubleshooting, and quality control Build, evaluate, and refine prototypes through hands-on testing and validation Perform mounting, balancing, and performance testing of wheel and tire assemblies Analyze test data and benchmark against competitive products to improve design performance and reliability Provide factory support during product launches and ongoing production Assist with development and improvement of mounting and balancing tools, equipment, and processes Maintain organized engineering documentation, reports, and development records Support additional engineering and product development initiatives as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and kinematics Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience in the wheel and/or tire industry Experience with manufacturing equipment sourcing, installation, or maintenance Understanding of tire mounting and balancing processes Internship, academic project, or professional experience in product development or mechanical engineering Exposure to PLM, FEA, CAE, and engineering analysis tools Familiarity with software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and Microsoft Excel Technical writing experience Spanish-speaking ability is a plus, but not required TECHNICAL SKILLS CAD & Engineering Design Software Engineering Analysis & Simulation Tools Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Project Management Software CORE COMPETENCIES Adaptability and flexibility in changing environments Strong work ethic and dependability High ethical standards and professionalism Motivation and initiative Commitment to quality and continuous improvement Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Ongoing desire to learn and develop technical expertise COMPENSATION & BENEFITS $75,000–$80,000 annual base salary depending on qualifications Exempt full-time position Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Disability and Life Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan with Employer Safe Harbor Contribution Performance-based merit reviews and bonus opportunities LOCATION Hybrid in-office work schedule based on business needs.
