W ork Location Federal Detention Center-Miami 33 NE 4th Street Miami, Florida 33132 Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints, and Drug Screen. T ype of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Period of Performance: Date of Award to five (5) years. Estimate Pay: $18.51 - $23.60 per hour. Benefits: Health/Dental and Vision Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, which starts accruing on the day of hire. S ick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, which starts occurring on the day of hire. Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays Su mmary of Services The Medical Assistant will provide medical services to inmates incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution and the Federal Detention Center. All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Medical Assistant services, and in compliance with all Federal and State policies and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations of the Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. Attire The Medical Assistant is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (only scrub uniforms or cargo pants/polo shirt are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. W orking Hours The working hours for the Medical Assistant will normally be between 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, excluding Federal Holidays. These hours may be adjusted to meet the institution's needs. The contractor should not exceed 40 hours per week. Qualifications Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant school or program. Current licensure as a Medical Assistant in the State of Florida. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association. Minimum of three (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant. Duties And Responsibilities Provide nursing care to include, taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting Mid-Level Practitioners and physicians in clinical activities. Perform venipuncture on patients for analysis or other medical purposes when Necessary. Collect and process Urinalysis. Adhere to infection control policies and procedures. Ability and skill to operate EKG and laboratory equipment. Knowledge of mental health disorders and must have the ability to screen for gross mood changes. Ability to provide basic first aid, prevention care, and guidance in treating a variety of common illnesses/injuries. Properly triage sick-call complaints and refer to RN or APP as appropriate. Perform duties as required but accept only those assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws. Operation of the EKG machine and other special medical apparatus and equipment within the Health Service Unit. Will assist providers in the urgent care room when necessary. General medical assistant duties. Maintain supplies in all exam rooms. Screening eye exams and assisting physicians and mid-level practitioners in minor surgical cases. Maintain daily sick call list and place inmates on call out as needed. Other duties as assigned.
