Job Description
Medical Assistant Responsibilities The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting physicians and clinical staff while providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced rheumatology practice. This position will provide coverage for both the Marietta and Cartersville locations, with the Cartersville office located in the Piedmont Hospital area. The ideal candidate must be organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, injections, and in-office procedures Draw blood/laboratory specimens and properly process, label, and prepare specimens for transport Perform patient intake and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately Update electronic medical records (EMR) with patient information and physician instructions Communicate test results, medication instructions, and follow-up information to patients as directed by providers Coordinate patient care, referrals, prior authorizations, and prescription refill requests Prepare and clean examination rooms before and after patient visits Ensure proper stocking and organization of medical supplies and exam rooms Maintain infection control, safety standards, and HIPAA compliance at all times Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating patient flow throughout the clinic Provide compassionate customer service while addressing patient questions and concerns Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and front office staff to support efficient daily operations Support patients with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication throughout their visit Qualifications & Skills Previous Medical Assistant experience in a physician office or specialty practice preferred Ability to draw blood and process laboratory specimens accurately and efficiently Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-9/10, and insurance procedures preferred Strong computer and EMR documentation skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinical environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Dependable, professional, and team-oriented attitude Ability to travel between Marietta and Cartersville office locations as needed Job Type: Full-time Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour Work Location: In person
