Job Description
Description:Serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts.Supervision:Reports directly to Chief Operations Officer (COO).Attendance at HIPAA and Compliance educational programs is a requirement of employment.Responsibilities:1.Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.2.Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.a.Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.3.Answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.4.Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.5.Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.6.Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.7.Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.8.Insurance verification and knowledge.Medical Office Receptionist Skills and Qualifications:Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Customer Service, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Scheduling, Word Processing, Professionalism, Quality Focus 9.Utilize provided computer and software to input information and record all visits.10.Screen each patient prior to examination by provider.This includes review of patient information contained in their chart to ensure that data is current and correct.11.Inform patients of different programs we have to offset charges, explaining the qualifications and requirements, i.e., Office of Family Planning, Medi-Cal, CHDP, and Sliding Fee.12.Perform status verification when appropriate.13.Review information collected from the patient and explain the fee schedules and methods of payment, and collect payment when required.14.Keep abreast of all payment options and special programs available to cover the cost of services rendered.Attend training when required.15.Provide financial responsibility information to callers as need arises.16.Assist the billing department when needed 17.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:1.High school diploma or GED equivalent 2.Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.3.Compassion for patients and passion for working with vulnerable patient populations Job Type:Full-time Pay:$21.50 - $23.00 per hour Benefits:Health insurance Paid time off Work Location:In person.
