OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Referral Clerk to join our healthcare administration team.The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical office procedures, managed care processes, and medical terminology.This role is vital in ensuring seamless coordination between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.The Medical Referral Clerk will handle referral processing, insurance verification, and maintain accurate medical records to support efficient patient care delivery.Duties Process and track patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers, ensuring timely appointments and follow-up.Verify insurance coverage and benefits using managed care protocols to facilitate authorization and reimbursement procedures.Maintain comprehensive medical records, including documentation of referrals, authorizations, and correspondence with insurance carriers.Utilize medical coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to ensure accurate billing and record-keeping.Collaborate with medical staff to gather necessary documentation for referral requests and insurance claims.Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and data security at all times.Assist in office operations by managing appointment scheduling, answering inquiries related to referrals, and supporting overall administrative functions.Support the integration of electronic health records (EHR) systems for efficient data management within the medical office environment.Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare administrative role is highly preferred.Knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification procedures, and medical billing practices.Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.Experience with HIPAA compliance requirements to ensure patient privacy and data security.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with patients, providers, insurers, and team members.Additional experience in dental office administration or related healthcare fields is a plus but not mandatory.Join our team as we streamline healthcare delivery through precise administrative support and exceptional patient service!
