Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A medical-surgical/telemetry registered nurse opportunity is available at a large, Level 1 Trauma designated teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds in Macon, GA. This contract position offers a dynamic clinical environment specializing in post/pre-cardiac and step-down ICU patient care with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis. Located on a 30-bed Med Surg/Tele unit operating at full census, this role requires a minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Tele nursing experience. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Nurses will work alongside a skilled team including CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists, with full 24/7 support. Responsibilities Include Providing expert care for complex cardiac and telemetry patients Managing tracheostomies, chest tubes, IV insertions, PIV starts, and drip titrations (heart rate related) Administering insulin and heparin drips Performing cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation Coordinating care across interdisciplinary teams Educating patients on discharge, especially renal and fluid management Handling wound care and post-op monitoring Required certifications include BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR), with ACLS and medical-surgical nursing certifications preferred but not mandatory. Schedule Details 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A) Weekend rotation of about 5-6 shifts every 6 weeks One major holiday shift per holiday cycle No on-call required The facility uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems. Orientation includes 1 day of general facility onboarding plus 2 departmental days.
