In this PRN role, you will perform a wide range of complex laboratory tests and analyses in areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank to assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients across our hospital and affiliated facilities. Working in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment, you will receive and process specimens, verify patient identification, prepare samples according to established protocols, and operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of laboratory analyzers and instrumentation. You will validate and interpret test results, recognize critical values, and promptly communicate significant findings to providers and nursing staff in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The Medical Technologist PRN will follow strict quality control and quality assurance procedures, participate in proficiency testing, and adhere to all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and applicable state guidelines. You will help maintain accurate records in the laboratory information system, contribute to inventory and reagent management, and support a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following infection prevention, biosafety, and chemical safety protocols. Collaboration and teamwork are essential in this role. You will work closely with pathologists, fellow technologists, technicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to support efficient workflows, timely turnaround of lab results, and excellent patient outcomes. You will have the opportunity to mentor and support new staff and students, share best practices, and participate in ongoing training to keep current with advances in laboratory medicine and technology. Aligned with HCA Healthcare’s culture of compassion, integrity, and innovation, you will be encouraged to contribute ideas that enhance patient care, improve processes, and support continuous performance improvement within the laboratory. This PRN position offers flexible scheduling to help meet patient care needs, including the potential for evenings, nights, weekends, and holiday shifts, depending on department requirements. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy under time pressure. A commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical practice is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. At HCA Healthcare, you will have access to a broad network of clinical resources, educational opportunities, and potential career pathways, allowing you to grow your skills as a laboratory professional and make a meaningful impact on the health of the communities we serve.
