Responsibilities will be focused on the design, installation, operation and maintenance of glass melting equipment. The primary role will be in supporting current projects, providing logistical support, vendor interaction, equipment checkout as well as local project support collaborating with facility engineering reviewing layouts and providing onsite installation leadership. Activities would also include working with design teams, providing feedback for improvements from facilities, manufacturing and vendors to ensure the most up to date technology is reflected in design documentation. Day to Day Responsibilities: Lead Melting process installations (Rebuilds) Lead, support and provide guidance through the fabrication, installation and construction activities and provide start-up assistance of the melting process equipment Promote “good” project management practices in the melt technology area Adapt new equipment installation technologies as needed and justified Investigate and recommend equipment modifications to technology area design team Manage logistics of incoming equipment orders Be the first point of contact between the vendors and the project team As required, provide onsite support at vendors (Internal and External) throughout the fabrication process and final checkout Provide the project or task with sound innovative thinking, problem solving skills while staying customer focused Provide direction and guidance to develop/strengthen installation competencies to all team members Provide CAD support as needed Travel is required to Corning’s worldwide operations. Frequency and duration vary according to project stage and status. Travel may include project meetings, equipment installation, and commissioning. Hours: 8 am – 5 pm with ability to support off-hours conference calls / meetings with international project teams and extended hours as required to meet project objectives During construction periods, hours will range from 7 am – 5 pm to account for the additional workloads placed upon the project Some Saturday shifts required as needed for projects Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering (ceramic, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical) 5 or more years of experience in construction, design engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, process engineering or a combination of these Required Skills & Experience: Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with the ability to handle changing priorities Strong hands on application skills with a focus on construction and installation of manufacturing equipment Ability to read and interpret drawings and a
