Part-Time Due to the resignation of a current City Council member, effective May 26, 2026 there will be a vacant position on the Chardon City Council. In accordance with the City Charter, City Council shall make an appointment to fill the seat until a new permanent member is elected. To be eligible to serve, the applicant must be a registered voter and a resident of the City of Chardon. All residents of the City of Chardon who are interested in being considered for appointment to the vacant position are encouraged to apply. Any individual who may be interested in serving but desires more information about the positions and/or the duties of City Council are encouraged to contact the City Manager at byoung@cityofchardon.gov with their questions. Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter stating why he/she is interested in serving as a Councilmember. Application materials should be sent to Amy Day, Clerk of Council at 111 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024, emailed to aday@cityofchardon.gov , or may be hand delivered to the Clerk of Council’s office on the second floor of the Chardon Municipal Center. All applications must be received by no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, June 12, 2026. Qualifications Must be a registered voter and a resident of the City of Chardon. Special Requirements Applicants should be prepared to be available on the evening of June 28, 2026 for interviews with City Council. Miscellaneous Information This appoint is for a temporary position. If any individual wishes to serve the full remained of the unexpired term they must run in the election for the seat at the next opportunity. Job Details Category Part-Time Status Open Salary Members of Council are paid $6,000 per year in accordance with City Code 137.03.
