Job Description
Position Title: Member Service Representative Department: Member Services Classification: Full-Time / Non-Exempt Approved By: Chief Operating Officer Role Overview: As a Member Service Representative, you will focus on building long-term relationships with our members to understand their financial needs and provide recommendations on products and services. In addition to meeting sales and referral goals, you will be expected to refer members to business partners in other areas of the credit union, such as Consumer and Residential Lending. Member Service Representatives develop and maintain strong relationships with internal credit union business line partners to maximize member solutions and service. You will be responsible for performing a broad range of member services, including opening accounts, answering questions about credit union services, performing various account maintenance functions, and supporting member service call volume. You will also work to resolve complex member issues while maintaining a professional demeanor and delivering friendly, high-quality service. Essential Functions & Basic Duties: Responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions. Present and explain Credit Union products & services to members to assist in meeting their financial needs. Receive and direct members and telephone calls. Answer questions & solve problems for members by actively listening, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party. Responsibility for establishing & maintaining effective, professional business relations with members. Maintain and project the Credit Union's professional reputation at all times. Maintain effective working relationships with various departments. Assist member service group as required, attending meetings & trainings as required. Assume responsibility for related duties and tasks as required or assigned. Actively and professionally cross-sell Credit Union products & services. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Maintain a Cash Box and support Manager/Supervisor in Branch audits. Adhere to all Operational and Compliance requirements of position. Assist with loan documents and application submissions as needed. Job Requirements: 2+ years of customer service or sales experience; banking experience preferred / credit union experience ideal. Previous success in a fast paced and goal driven environment. Excellent technical skills & computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite) with the ability to learn new software as required. Strong verbal / written communication skills and excellent listening skills. Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Demonstrate ability to provide solutions for complex member related issues. Professional appearance, disposition, and public relations skills. High energy; proven ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment. High School diploma or equivalency preferred, and college degree a plus.
