Girl Scouts of Central Texas Job Description Job Title: Membership Engagement Specialist FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time Department: Membership Reports To: Membership Engagement Manager Location: Austin, Texas Job Purpose: The Membership Engagement Specialist is responsible for generating new youth and adult membership leads for continued membership growth within an assigned geographic area and with the goal of ensuring that Girl Scouting is available in all segments of the population within assigned area. Additionally, this position will offer direct support to adult and youth members in the areas of mentorship, training, troop and service unit management, and conflict resolution. Essential Functions Increases the visibility and enhances the reputation of Girl Scouts, by engaging in the community through networking, collaboration, and events. Establishes, cultivates, and maintains partnerships and relationships with schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, and businesses to promote and deliver Girl Scouting within assigned geographic area. Increases the positive impact of Girl Scouts within the Council area by meeting or exceeding annual new membership recruitment, lead generation, and retention goals for youth and adult members. Plans and executes events that increase community awareness of the benefits and outcomes of Girl Scouts and bring more members and volunteers to our movement. Provides ongoing effective support, communication, supervision, and direction managing council relationships and engagement with service units, troops, members, and volunteers. Prepares for conversations and visits with members and volunteers by gathering key information and setting strong objectives to achieve successful outcomes. Able to share the Girl Scout value proposition through a variety of communication venues. Establishes the appropriate volunteer leadership teams to meet council goals by ensuring volunteer positions are filled by recruiting, selecting, appointing, and supervising key volunteers in assigned geographic area. Effectively moderates and resolves conflict that is escalated by volunteers and members using established policies, protocols, best practices and good judgement. Adheres to the policies of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and promotes Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public as well as to all internal and external customers. Performs other duties or assists other projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Two or more years knowledge of the sales and leads process, managing workflow and technology systems, and managing data, including, comprehension, analyzation and reporting of data to achieve team objectives. Two or more years of experience working for a membership-based, youth-based, or other related organization. Strong interpersonal skills, including a natural curiosity and openness about other perspectives and an ability to be diplomatic and professional when interacting with a wide variety of people and in sensitive situations. Ability to work effectively cross-departmentally, cultivating a culture of collaboration, and demonstrating respect for cross-departmental processes, staffing, and expertise. Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and across departments while promoting an environment of inclusivity, respect for cross-departmental processes, staffing and expertise Ability to positively influence others and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders. Ability to problem-solve by using critical thinking skills and by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and delivering findings and solutions. Strong written and oral communication, public speaking, cold calling, and presentation skills. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook or similar productivity software. Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally. Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism at all times but, especially when handling sensitive information. Yearly membership in GSUSA is required. Must have and maintain a valid TX driver’s license, a safe driving record, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation to travel within Girl Scouts of Central Texas service area.
