Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mental Health Billing & Coding Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team.In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing mental health services, ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing revenue cycle processes.Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency of claims submission, reimbursement, and the overall financial health of our mental health practice.If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures, and are passionate about supporting mental health services, this is the opportunity for you to make a meaningful difference.Responsibilities Review clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for mental health services Ensure accurate coding of mental health diagnoses and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Manage medical billing processes, including patient invoicing, payment posting, and reconciliation of accounts receivable Conduct medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving billing discrepancies Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with coding standards and legal requirements Collaborate with clinicians, administrative staff, and insurance providers to resolve billing issues promptly and efficiently Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a mental health or behavioral health setting Strong understanding of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and DRG classifications Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation standards Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record keeping Knowledge of insurance claim processes, medical collections, and reimbursement procedures Prior experience in a healthcare office environment is highly desirable Certification in Medical Coding (such as CPC or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory Join us to be part of a passionate team committed to delivering exceptional mental health care while ensuring smooth administrative operations.We value your expertise in medical coding and billing as essential to supporting our mission of improving lives through accessible mental health services.Benefits:Health insurance Paid time off Experience:Medical billing:1 year (Preferred) Work Location:In person.
