1099 Independent Contractor | Telehealth Only | New York State Job Overview Digby’s New Hope Mental Health Counseling Services, PLLC is seeking a motivated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-P or LMHC) to join our growing private practice. This role primarily involves working with adult clients experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress-related concerns, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, and relationship issues. The position is intentionally structured to support clinicians who are newer to the field and looking to build confidence, strengthen foundational clinical skills, and grow within a supportive and mentorship-focused environment. Duties Conduct thorough intake, assessments, and treatment planning and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine client needs. Provide telehealth counseling services to individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress-related concerns, and life transitions Maintain progress notes and documentation within 24 hours of sessions Participate in weekly to bi-weekly supervision and case consultation Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and ethical standards Maintain HIPAA compliance and professional boundaries Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and promote positive behavioral changes. Position Details 1099 Independent Contractor Telehealth only Flexible schedule 12–20 hours per week Caseload of approximately 12–15 active clients Compensation: $23–$33/hour (based on experience) Biweekly payments Requirements Active LMHC-P permit or LMHC license in New York State Professional liability insurance required Reliable internet connection and telehealth-appropriate workspace Strong communication and organizational skills Willingness to learn, grow, and accept feedback Qualifications Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or provisional license (LMHC-P) with eligibility for full licensure in the state of practice. Some experience in clinical counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings Some knowledge of mental health disorders including PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities. Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychopharmacology principles. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information. Great communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients while demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
