Description The purpose of this classification is to perform technical tasks to maintain and repair meters and regulators for the City. Acts as the coordinator of the related materials, parts, supplies and equipment inventory. Positions in the Gas Department are subject to 24-hour call. Examples of Duties Services, repairs, installs, removes, and/or replaces meters and associated equipment, and performs related manual work, which may include locating and uncovering covered meters, raising meter boxes to ground level, cleaning out meter boxes, pumping water from meter boxes, replacing/repairing water meters, replacing cutoffs under pressure from main line, locating/repairing utility leaks, replacing meter boxes and lids, replacing meter couplings and washers, rebuilding small residential meters and large commercial meters, digging dirt/debris from meter boxes, or shoveling materials. Maintains, repairs and tests meters and regulators; disassembles, cleans and paints meters and regulators; changes meter charts and performs flow tests; tests meters and regulators at high and low pressures to ensure adequate performance; repairs or replac
