Job Description
Help inspire future innovators as a part-time instructor specializing in chess, robotics, and coding for students in grades K-12! This unique role offers the opportunity to engage with students across elementary, middle, and high schools in the Washington, DC metro area. If you're passionate about STEM, enjoy creating an engaging learning experience, and are available for after-school hours, this contract position provides the perfect way to share your expertise. Responsibilities Teach hands-on chess, robotics, and computer coding lessons to groups of K-12 students. Foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving through interactive activities. Develop a positive, inclusive classroom environment in each session. Adapt lessons for students with a variety of experience levels. Travel to 10 potential school locations throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Manage classroom materials and set up for activities before each session. Communicate regularly with parents and school staff about student progress. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in Education, Computer Science, STEM, or a related field preferred. Previous teaching, mentoring, or coaching experience with children or teens. Strong knowledge of chess, basic robotics, and coding concepts. Ability to commute reliably across the DC metro region. Excellent communication and classroom management skills. Enthusiasm for encouraging students and adapting to their needs.
