Job Description
General Expectations and Key Responsibilities: Commitment to inquiry and deeper learning that spans long periods of time Thoroughly plan and implement schoolwide curriculum that is built for inquiry, complexity, rigor, and real-world application Explicitly teach reading skills everyday and monitor student progress regularly, as reading is the conduit for deeper learning through inquiry Engage in the learning process with the student as a partner and facilitator Commitment to developing authentic products for authentic audiences with their students Effectively plan and execute lessons that build daily work into long term, student products of professional quality Understand and leverage the power of audience Commit to teaching English language arts through the lens of science and social studies Commitment to developing students who can self-manage and become self-sufficient Use learning targets built around State standards and schoolwide language for every lesson Use data regularly with students to guide students toward understanding their own progress Create a safe and organized classroom environment that reflects student work and growth Commitment to being a contributor to a collaborative culture Continuously improve teaching practice through reflection and collaboration with colleagues and coaches Attend and participate in professional development, open houses, family meetings, and other school functions A role model in school and out of school, committed to living by the values we teach Demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to one’s own learning and improvement Display professionalism at all times as a role model and guardian of school mission, core values, and culture Deliver reports and paperwork critical to tracking student performance and school compliance in a timely manner with high levels of organization Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to living out our habits of scholarship Committed to working from an asset-based view of children, families, and communities Use differentiated strategies to meet the individual needs of all learners.
