Department: CI | Mammovan Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: Performs high quality screening and diagnostic breast imaging exams, including mammography and Breast ultrasounds. Explains procedures to patients, positions patients and equipment, reviews previous records to determine correct studies are being performed, maintains, and operates specialized radiologic equipment. The technologist role requires familiarity with operation of equipment for breast procedures including ultrasound biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, MRI guided biopsy and needle localizations although these procedures are not performed on the mammovans. The UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute (WPRCI) mobile mammography program has been in place for more than 10 years. WPRCI is committed to decreasing breast cancer-related illness, disability and death in Arkansas through screening and early detection. The focus of the program is on improving cancer screenings and education around the state with particular attention to our rural underserved counties. This position requires travel with multiple overnight stays each month. Sometimes trip schedules include departures/arrivals after hours or on weekends, e.g., departure on a Sunday afternoon or return on a Friday evening. The position also requires obtaining a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in order to drive the van as needed.
