Job Description
Job Title Motor Equipment Operator General Statement Of Job Under close supervision, is responsible for the proper operation of motorized maintenance equipment used in the maintenance of streets. Performs duties in the sign shop for the preparation, repair and installation of street signs. Assists in road and drainage construction activities. Minimum Training And Experience Education: High School diploma or GED Experience: One to two years of experience in light equipment operation Certifications: Valid commercial driver's license at hire Preferred: Note: The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate a dump truck, vactor truck, tractor and boom, dresser loader, and numerous small tools and equipment. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds. Program Overview: Our CDL Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience to individuals pursuing a Commercial Driver's License. Through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-road training, apprentices will gain the skills and knowledge needed to become professional truck drivers. Key Responsibilities Participate in classroom training at Horry Georgetown Technical College covering CDL regulations, safety protocols, and operational procedures. Receive assisted driving on the road with experienced drivers to gain practical driving experience. Learn and practice vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures. Adhere to company safety policies and DOT regulations. Complete all assigned tasks and training modules within the program timeline. Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and drug test. Strong work ethic and a commitment to learning. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Benefits: Paid training and competitive starting wages.
