Required Qualifications:BA/BS plus at least two-years of experience in video production or a combination of related education and work equal to at least six years.Understanding of video requirements for learning management systems, like Canvas, and video online hosting, such as Vimeo.Experience in digital photography.Basic knowledge of using Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, or similar video editing software programs.Understanding of human services.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with whiteboard animation software, such as Vyond.Experience in documentary-style video production.Experience in social work.Child welfare expertise.Understanding of state/tribal social services.The Multimedia Specialist (M&C Pro 2-Digital Media, 8342DG) is a 0.75 FTE, University employee at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) which is located under the Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare (MICW), which also houses several additional dynamic research and training entities, including the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW),and the Minnesota Linking Information for Kids (Minn-LInK) project.The Multimedia Specialist serves as a critical member of the integrated teams of Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the University.This position is responsible for collaborating to create all video training and promotional products for the statewide MNCWTA.The Multimedia Specialist will provide support in the ongoing operations of the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy.The University of Minnesota encourages a healthy work life balance for employees.CEHD is committed to an excellent employee experience, offering a flexible work environment that meets the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the communities we serve.Flexible work arrangements may include flexibility in schedule and/or work location.Please note that 100% remote work requires approval prior to offer.A hybrid work schedule is required (3 days on-site, 2 days remote).This position will report to the Communications Supervisor and will be located off campus at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy, which is in Roseville, just two miles north of the St.Paul Campus.Priority Deadline Note:Application review will begin on April 27, 2026.Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.Job Responsibilities:Curriculum Media Production (75%) Plan, schedule, and manage media related projects developed at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy.Serve as technical lead on projects that include the following media formats:video (e.g., lecture, documentary, and explainer-style), and audio (podcasts).Assemble raw audio/visual material into a finished product to be used for training purposes by the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy.Ensure delivery of compelling content over the internet.Ensure products adhere to the MNCWTA brand.Meet with stakeholders to evaluate, discuss, and propose ideas for media projects.Estimate production requirements (including equipment, crew, location), provide cost estimates, and evaluate copyright, clearance and release requirements.Create and implement a budget for all production costs and expenses.Obtain and operate the most appropriate production materials and ensure proper operation of equipment required (test cameras, tapeless media, microphones, lights, video monitors and related equipment).Conduct interviews with experts and subjects for both video and podcast.Create and evaluate outlines, scripts, and project concepts for clarity of purpose, consideration of audience, and appropriate creative and technical approach.Determine timelines for production and handle and plan for disruptions to the project.Create graphics and soundtracks and input music, dialogue, and effects to ensure the highest quality possible.Direct video productions ranging from single-camera productions to multi-camera field and studio productions.This includes interacting with and guiding subjects/talent and others through the production process.Operate a variety of post-production equipment including nonlinear computer-based editing systems, tapeless devices, and video/audio interfaces.During postproduction, edit recorded video, audio, and other materials to meet time, aesthetic, ethical, and broadcast quality standards, using software such as Final Cut Pro X.Utilize a variety of post-production software applications for video editing, audio editing, DVD authoring, graphics creation, compositing, compressing, encoding/transcoding, and captioning.Coordinate the archiving of media assets for short- and long-term storage and access.Maintain the organization of media production equipment and post-production equipment and software.Collaborations (20%) Remain in communication with the Curriculum team to stay abreast of the needs and opportunities for media production to enhance curriculum.Collaborate with the LMS team to
