Part-Time Music Teacher – Early Childhood Performing Arts Building Kidz - Building Starz Performing Arts Program | San Mateo to San Francisco Building Kidz is seeking enthusiastic and creative part-time Music Teachers to join our growing multi-school Performing Arts program throughout the Northern San Francisco Peninsula. Our Performing Arts department integrates Music, Dance, and Theatre into early childhood education and partners with several preschool campuses across the Peninsula. We are currently hiring teachers for the following school locations: Building Kidz of San Mateo (East 39th Ave) Building Kidz of San Mateo North Building Kidz of Millbrae Building Kidz of SF @ Sunset Building Kidz of SF @ 20th Ave This position is ideal for: Working artists seeking consistent supplemental income Performing arts educators interested in joining a collaborative organization College student musicians and artists looking for flexible teaching work outside of their academic schedule Music instructors who enjoy creative, child-centered education Position Overview Music Teachers lead engaging and age-appropriate music classes for children ages 3 months to 5 years old using the Building Kidz music curriculum. Teachers collaborate closely with fellow Music, Dance, and Theatre instructors to support two large-scale children’s productions each year. Classes are typically scheduled during morning and/or afternoon blocks, with individual class times ranging from approximately 15–30 minutes depending on age group. We offer Flexible scheduling Travel stipends between schools Collaborative artistic environment Opportunities to contribute creatively to productions and curriculum Responsibilities Teach fun and engaging music classes for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children Create a warm, supportive, and creative classroom environment Manage groups of young children effectively and positively Assist with curriculum development and lesson planning Collaborate with Performing Arts staff on two annual productions involving music, dance, and theater Facilitate musical numbers and classroom rehearsals for performances Participate in staff meetings and incorporate feedback professionally Support additional Performing Arts initiatives as assigned Qualifications Strong musical background and passion for teaching children Knowledge of instruments such as drums, tambourines, maracas, choral bells, and keyboard Minimum 2–3 years of formal music training (music education, instrumental study, theory, musical theatre, etc.) Teaching experience preferred but not required Experience working with young children strongly preferred Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse and multicultural team Flexible, dependable, and self-motivated Requirements Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license Ability to travel between school locations as needed Background check and fingerprint clearance TB test and physical exam clearance Professional references required If you are passionate about music, performance, and early childhood education, we would love to hear from you.
