Job Summary To provide a structured use of music or music activities to influence changes in maladaptive conditions of behavior patterns thereby assisting children achieve therapeutic goals. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Assesses patients' needs through musical responses, designs and implements individualized music therapy interventions, and evaluates progress within a therapeutic relationship. Uses music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, and other techniques to help patients achieve non-musical goals related to their well-being and improved outcomes. Develops and implements music therapy interventions tailored to patient needs and goals, using various musical elements and techniques. Conducts individual and group music therapy sessions, including playing instruments, singing, songwriting, and movement to music. Works with patients individually and in groups to assess therapy needs and develop appropriate activities, programs, and treatment processes based on patient goals, requests, and functioning levels. Assists in developing music therapy programming by presenting and implementing ideas as well as assisting with marketing and community outreach, when applicable. Documents treatment, evaluation, and patient progress as required by the department. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide patient care. Works with and oversees students from Music Therapy programs. Provides recurring music group activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibility This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. Completion of an approved Music Therapy Program from a college/university preferred Experience - One (1) year experiences. Experience with children preferred In Lieu Of NA Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Certified Music Therapist (CMT), Registered Music Therapist (RMT) or Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) preferred.
