Job Description
Mountain Valley Community School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Assistant Principal to join our leadership team serving students in grades 5–8. This position plays a key role in supporting a positive, consistent, and inclusive school culture grounded in high expectations, strong relationships, and shared accountability. About The Role The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal to support students, staff, and families. This includes leadership in student behavior systems, staff support, family communication, and the consistent implementation of school-wide expectations and procedures. What We Are Looking For The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate a genuine passion for middle-level students and their development Build strong, respectful, and trusting relationships with students, staff, and families Communicate clearly, consistently, and professionally in both written and verbal formats Demonstrate strong follow-through on commitments, deadlines, and responsibilities Maintain exceptional organization, including timely completion of documentation, scheduling, and required processes Uphold confidentiality and FERPA requirements with integrity in all circumstances Support a fair and consistent approach to student discipline and school expectations, ensuring that decisions are guided by policy, equity, and student need rather than external pressure or influence Support staff through collaboration, coaching, and problem-solving with a student-centered focus Contribute to a safe, structured, and positive school climate for all learners Preferred Experience Knowledge and/or experience with BARR and PBIS frameworks Experience leading 504 meetings, attendance/truancy processes, and student support systems Experience supporting school safety procedures and crisis response Background in middle-level education and instructional leadership Why This Role Matters This is an opportunity to be part of a strong and growing school community that values consistency, relationships, and collective responsibility.
