Job Description
VFC Group is the largest Lightning Protection and Grounding company in the United States. As the premier lightning protection company, we have mastered the art of total site & facility protection by designing site-specific grounding, lightning protection, surge suppression, and lightning warning solutions. As a quickly growing company, we are always looking for exceptional people to add to our team. Position Summary The Director of Supply Chain & Manufacturing is responsible for leading the company’s vertical integration strategy. This executive will oversee both the purchasing and manufacturing departments, creating a unified pipeline designed to maximize purchasing efficiency and aggressively identify opportunities to replace externally purchased consumables with internally manufactured products. Primary Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Manage, mentor, and align the Purchasing Manager and Director of Manufacturing to ensure procurement and production function as a single, cost-effective ecosystem. Make-vs-Buy Analysis: Continuously audit the company’s internal consumption of goods and materials to identify high-volume or high-margin products that should be transitioned from external procurement to internal manufacturing. Purchasing Optimization: Streamline purchasing operations, negotiate high-level vendor contracts, and eliminate supply chain redundancies to systematically lower overall consumption costs. Explore new and nurture current vendor relationships for both purchasing and manufacturing, including raw materials for our OEM manufacturers. Capacity Expansion: Direct the expansion of manufacturing capabilities to support new internal product lines without disrupting current internal deliverables. Process Integration: Align cross-departmental communication and optimize ERP architecture to ensure real-time visibility into inventory, consumption rates, and production capacities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain management. Proven track record of successfully executing vertical integration strategies or conducting extensive "make-vs-buy" financial modeling. Experience evaluating and optimizing NetSuite and managing remote or cross-departmental collaboration using the Microsoft platform. Strong financial acumen to assess the capital expenditures required for new manufacturing lines versus the long-term savings of reduced procurement. International experience (China and Mexico), preferred. Salary $140,000 to $170,000, depending on qualifications and experience, with bonus opportunities.
